Donna has spent decades studying the culture and traditions of the ancient world and has a wealth of insights into the scriptures. The focus of this webinar will be on understanding the scriptures in a cultural context and making sense of “weird” scriptures.
Bio: Donna was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida. She married Sherm Nielsen 49 years ago. They met at BYU and both of them graduated from there. She earned a Ph.D. in Early Christian Studies and Iconography, and they have 5 children and 16 grandchildren.
Education Specialist for the BYU Shakespeare Fellowship for many years and has been a keynote speaker for The Shakespeare Education Conference. She has presented programs for teachers and children in Cedar City for the Shakespearean Festival and have spoken to over 50,000 kids and teachers about Shakespeare and Elizabethan History.
Donna has been a presenter at several Home Education Conferences at BYU. She is the author of Beloved Bridegroom: Finding Christ in Ancient Jewish Marriage and Family Customs, now in its 18th printing. She also has 2 CDs-The Holy Child Jesus and He Hid Not His Face (Christmas and the Easter).
She has been an Education Week and BYU Women’s Conference speaker presenter and is a Jungian-based Sand tray Practitioner and Trainer – working with BYU football team projects and numerous research projects. Former Regional director for the Western Sandplay Association.
She served as Historical Consultant for the play Savior of the World performed at the Conference Center and in Stakes around the Church, and has been a tour guide to Israel. She has also taught many classes on symbolism, scriptures, and the sacred feminine.
